Kansas City Small Business Owners — How to Get 10 Times More Clients from Your Marketing . . . No Kidding!

Small Business Owners In Kansas City — If you aren’t getting enough clients it’s very likely that you are making the same mistake that almost 90% of all small business owners make. And that’s the 90% that the Small Business Administration says will fail within their first 2-5 years.

Let’s look at a formula that’ll explain it.

Basically when you don’t have people knocking your door down to get what you want you’ve very likely made one of two mistakes:

  • Your marketing message doesn’t COMPEL anyone to BEG you for what you do.
  • You aren’t getting your marketing message in front of enough people

And, I’d say that 99% of all marketing messages I hear or see are more likely to have me running for cover than to have me BEGGING for what that person does.

Even those that aren’t driving me away, certainly aren’t COMPELLING me to chase after that product or that person.

Without a marketing message that GRABS my attention and then leaves me DESPARATE for that product a service no matter how many people you get it in front of the results are still zero.

Take the marketing formula, and let’s say that we get in front of 1,000 people, but our marketing message is a dud.

1000 X 0 = 0

It’s STILL zero results.

Now let’s say that the marketing message convinces 10% of the people you get it in front of.

1000 x 10% = 100 people

Do you know what your marketing message’s conversion rate is?

Do you know that every time you send out printed mail, or every time you go networking (that’s marketing), or every time you speak to a group, or whatever you do to “get the message out” . . . Do you KNOW what percentage of the people respond?

If you don’t I challenge you to take your best guess right now.

  • Printed Brochure, or Direct Maill –The last time you sent out print mail how many calls did you get? What percentage of all the mail was that?
  • Website — How many people visit your website weekly? And how many calls a week do you get from the website? What’s the percentage of the total that respond?
  • Networking — How many networking events do you go to weekly? And how many people attend those  . . . on the average. Take your best guess. And how many appointments do you get from that. Out of the total number of people you networked with in the past week, or past month, how many responded? What’s that percentage?
  • Speaking — How many people have you given a formal speech to in the past week or month? And how many responded? What’s that percentage?

 If you aren’t measuring and managing those numbers how can you improve your marketing message? Those measurements tell you how well your marketing message works. Then you can plug that response rate into the marketing formula and see how many people you MUST get your message in front of to get as many people you want walking in your door weekly, or monthly.

And you can tweak that marketing message for higher and higher results.

It ALL starts with your marketing message.

For instance, I’m not happy if I speak to a group, chamber, social group, trade association, etc. and I don’t get at least 20-30% of that room coming up to me afterwards saying “Wow, I’d love to hear more about what you do?” or “I’d love to have those kinds of results for my business.”

When working with a client on his internet marketing, I’ve discovered that 99% of all websites don’t work . . . and the reason? . . . most get less than 0.1% conversion and have fewer than 100 visitors a month. That means that it’s likely they go 10-12 months before they get a call. Just by fixing their marketing message on their website, what they say and how they say it, getting it up to 5% to 10% is fairly easy. Just changing the marketing message that moves from 0.1% to 5% is 50 times more clients and 50 times more dollars than before. But then increase the traffic from 100 to 1,000 or more a month is another 10 times more clients and dollars.

Now put both of those together, 50 times from the conversion rate, and 10 times more from bringing more traffic . . . 50×10=500 times more clients and more dollars.

Wouldn’t you JUST LOVE to have 500 times more clients and more dollars than you do now?

It’s SIMPLE. Manage your business with the marketing formula. Manage your marketing message to get people EXCITED and BEGGING you for business. Then increase how many people you get that marketing message in front of.

Frankly, it’s possible to drive the conversion rates higher and higher even above 5%. I have a web page delivering at 40-60% area, and, as I said, when speaking live to a group, I’d like to hit the 30% area. It all boils down to your marketing message.
